This chart shows three-year averages of medical expenses for physicians services of participants before and after practice of the Transcendental Meditation program. In this study, government payments for physicians' services (approximately 20% of total medical expenses) were examined for 677 Quebec health plan enrollees who learned the Transcendental Meditation program. During the three years prior to beginning the Transcendental Meditation program, subjects' expenses (adjusted for inflation, age, and gender) did not change significantly. After learning the Transcendental Meditation program, subjects adjusted expenses declined significantly by 5%–7% annually.
