Using this Website
Here is basic information for using this website.

Quicklinks

You will want to make note of the Quicklinks button in the upper right-hand corner of every page. Many of the pages you visit most often are one click away using the Quicklinks menu.

Portal Navigation
The site is organized according to the University's main constituency groups: Prospective Students, MUM Online, Current Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni and Trustees and Donors.  Each of these groups has their own Portal (section of the site), with information that applies mainly to them. The prospective student information is in the Home portal, the donation information is in the portal called Giving. The final portal contains information on Campus Services.  The different portals can be accessed by clicking on the green bar of buttons across the bottom of each page.

Each portal has its own top navigation that appears in the dark green bar across the top of the page. The Current Students section, for example, has the top navigation items Student Service Departments, Calendars and Events, Where to Get Stuff Done, etc., which are present on every page in the Current Student section:

Information that is of interest to several different constituencies has been placed on the website Homepage. Look to the homepage for such important content as Academic Departments, About MUM, What's Happening, and also information for prospective students, such as Admissions and Why Study Here?

Left Navigation
Each portal is navigated by clicking on the headings at the top of each page, and the drop-down menu under each heading. Beyond those top two levels, the portal is navigated using links along the left edge of the page. Clicking on a left navigation link typically brings you to a new page with a new set of left links.
(<- See left)

When navigating a series of links it can be easy to forget where you are or how you got there. But you needn't feel lost in the forest, because every page has a dark green band just above the left navigation where you will find the path that brought you to the current page, like a trail of breadcrumbs. Each breadcrumb-level indicator is also a dynamic link, which means you can partially or fully retrace the way you came by clicking on the desired breadcrumb step.

Log-in Environment
The website is designed from the ground up as a log-in environment. All campus users and many off-campus users will have a username and password which will allow them access to content that is relevant to each portal group or even only to them, through the MyMUM link. For example, students will be able to see their grades online in their MyMUM area. The MyMUM area is still under construction as of March, 2013, but should be ready before the end of the spring semester.
