Bachelor of Fine Arts
The Bachelor of Fine Arts systematically awakens your artistic genius. This unique program integrates practical training in the visual arts with profound understanding of artistic principles and of how Transcendental Consciousness, which is easily experienced through the Transcendental Meditation® technique, is the fountainhead of all creativity.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is a professional degree program that refines artistic sensibility, develops technical skill, and creates a foundation for a career in the arts. It prepares you for a career in the fine arts or commercial art. The highly supportive environment created by the art faculty and the campus community nourishes your success and your ability to express beauty, harmony and fulfillment in your art, your life and your world.
Students also have opportunities to interact with visiting artists from around the country and established artists living in the Fairfield area who have given the town a regional reputation as a center for the arts. Each year Fairfield hosts numerous gallery shows and diverse theatrical productions that students can participate in. These opportunities have led to students winning awards in state and regional art student exhibitions, as well as their participation in professional art exhibits. Our graduates enjoy careers as artists, art teachers and professors, graphic, fashion and landscape designers, gallery directors, and in the fields of advertising, animation, video, and Web design.

Entrance Requirements
Students interested in the B.F.A. program apply to the Department of Art and Design after completing a minor in Fine Arts (20 units or 5 courses including Art and Nature, Art History, and 3 studio courses), or the equivalent experience based on approval of the Department. Transfer students entering the program must submit a portfolio documenting examples of previous course work. Admission to the B.F.A. program is based on portfolio and GPA. Continued participation in the program requires a 3.0 GPA or higher.
