Our major in education with a concentration in elementary education prepares students to teach all subjects from kindergarten through sixth grade, in public or private, conventional or non-traditional schools.
The elementary education program is approved by the Iowa Department of Education. Graduates of this program may be licensed to teach in public or private schools in Iowa and be eligible for teaching credentials in other states.
This program is closed to new applicants, however students interested in elementary education can major in Educational Foundations and then apply for one of the many elementary certification programs offered by school districts in the U.S. Our faculty can provide assistance in finding a program that meets your needs.
